Ciudad Jáurez, Chihuahua, Misión de Guadalupe

By Antonio Lopez: The name of the city is misspelled, its ¨CIUDAD JUAREZ¨ in state of Chihuahua. The mission was built in 1659 by a Franciscan friar named ¨Garcia de San Francisco¨, on the 8th of December of 1659. He and fray Juan de Salazar gathered ten Christian families and built a temporary chapel in which the Indians could pray and they dedicated it to the virgin of Guadalupe. They also built a monastery made out of adobe. But it wasn’t until 1662 that the mission was inaugurated and to celebrate the event 100 natives were baptized that day.
