Atotonilco el Grande, Hidalgo, San Agustín
Founded in 1536, San Agustín dominates the town of Atotonilco el Grande and the surrounding Hidalgan countryside. The church has sustained considerable damage over the centuries though the main West façade is an elegant though tatterdemalion, plateresque. The central door is framed by two pairs of fluted columns containing sets of foliage reliefs, while the archivolts spandrels hold reliefs of the Saints Peter and Paul. Little is left of the alfíz outline over the pediment.
