Above the cornucopia to the right side of the façade's portal is a cartouche with the Latin inscription FR IO METL ME FECIT {Francisco Jerónimo Metl made me}, a reference to the craftsman Juan Jerónimo Metl, quite likely indigenous or mestizo who worked on the construction of the convento (1550-1579)
