Chiconautla, México
Just northeast of Ecatepec, in the State of Mexico, lies the town of Santa María Chiconaulta. The church was built by the Augustinians in the 16th century, but the current structure dates to the mid-17th century and features a simple Mannerist façade.
The nave displays altars with Solomonic columns dedicated, for example, to the Passion, to Saint Michael, to Our Lady of Sorrows, as well as a beautiful oil painting with gold leaf depicting Saint James defeating the Moors.
