Nave painting, Ship of Patience

This painting of the Ship of Patience, or Navis Patientiae, follows the engraving Schif der Gedvlt issued by the Cologne publisher Gerhard Altzenbach (1609-1692). The circulation of the print clearly reached South America, as evidenced by the illustrative essay accompanying a third example in the Thoma Collection, Dallas.
