Tochimilco, Puebla, La Asunción de Nuestra Señora, Tercera Orden altar

Tochimilco, Puebla, La Asunción de Nuestra Señora, Tercera Orden altar - Puebla
This monumental polychromed wood relief represents the Seraphic Vision. It was once the centerpiece of the high altar in the convento church of La Asunción. Its only extant fragment, it is now housed in the adjacent Tercera Orden chapel. In ecstasy, St. Francis receives the stigmata from the blazing seraph while brother Leo (recounter of the episode) appears bottom right.
