The Birth of St. John The Baptist

A detail of the painting The Visitation by Nicolás Enríque (1704-1790), the scene shows The Birth of St. John the Baptist. The work is part of the collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, purchased with funds from the Bernard and Edith Lewin collection. It was included in the exhibition Painted in Mexico: 1700-1790 Pinxit Mexici held at the Palacio de Iturbide (Fomento Cultural Banamex) in Mexico City, June - Oct., 2017 which then traveled to Los Angeles, County Museum of Art, Nov., 2017 - March, 2018 and then to New York, Metropolitan Museum of Art, April - July, 2018.
