It represents the martyrdom of friar Pedro Batista who suffered the same fate alongside Felipe de Jesús.
The print vividly demonstrates Ribadeneira's description of how the lances passed through the victims' hearts, their spearheads exiting about their shoulders, likewise depicted in the Cuernavaca mural cycle.
