Appearing as the right mural of the North wall's upper tier is
Bartholomew of Urbino, or Bartolomé of Urbino (?-1350), an
Augustinian friar, theologian, teacher (at the University of Bologna), and eventual Bishop of his native city of Urbino. His most noteworthy achievement was a reference work on the writings of St. Augustine titled
Milleloquium Veritatis S. Augustini ("A Thousand Sayings of the Truth of Saint Augustine"), completed in 1347 and first published in 1555. It includes about 15,000 excerpts from the works of Augustine, 1,000 alphabetically arranged topics and certain dedicatory verses composed by his friend, the great Tuscan poet Francesco Petrarca (1304-1374).
